Napton reservoir

This is a 26 acre reservoir which is between 5 and 15 foot deep, and it is mainly weedy, with a few clear feeding spots. The lake is more well know for its tench fishing, with tench averaging 4lb, they can be pests in the summer and you have to wade through them to get to the carp. Also it has big pike averaging double figure, which go up to high twenty’s. There are about 40 carp which average 16lb and the biggest caught is 29.5lb, but that was a few years ago, i predict there to be at least 2 30lb+ carp in the reservoir. There are very little carp anglers due to people find it hard and go to commercials waters, because of that there is very little help, rules or tactics. I row my baits out on to spots which i have baited at 40 yards and 150 yards, and when it comes to rigs use whatever u want. In the summer to keep out of the weed i think the chod and rig rig will be worth a go. The only advice i would say too anyone carp fishing Napton reservoir is use big baits to keep the tench away, the tench really are a pest. But overall it is a hard lake which challenges you in many ways, but it is definitely worth it when you catch and this lake will teach you a lot and make you a better carp angler, like its made me a better angler.

River Avon in Warwickshire

The stretch of river i fish runs through Warwick, there is about 300 yard stretch which you can set up on, the river is between twenty and forty yards wide and between 3-12 foot deep, also it is mainly a silty bottom. There are a number of carp which average about 9lb but run up to mid thirties, there are alot of  bream so you are advised to stay away from particle baits. The carp tend to swim in shoals, so when you do catch, usually a few more will follow.  Also the carp mainly feed at night, so night fishing is your best chance of catching.

I also fish many other venues, like linear, dog lane, milton pools, drayton reservoir.
