Hi my name is Sam, max’s usual fishing companian. We fished the the same avon stretch at the end of July 2008. I tell you what, it was absolutley AMAZING! We have never had such made fishing in our fishing lives. between three of us, we had 10 carp, 5 chub, and 8 decent slabbed bream. And well, i think 23 fish in 48 hours was amazing, all of them, except 2 bream, and this lovely looking 17.8lb common carp, awakening me at half past 5 on a lovely summers morning.

Two weeks ago me and my friend Sam did 24 hours on the river Avon.

We fished boilies over a particle mix.

The river Avon is well fished by match anglers, but very under rated and under fished for carp.

There are not a huge number of carp, but they do grow quite big, the biggest carp is 29lb and as you may know river carp fight twice as hard.

Because these carp are partly wild they are mainly nocturnal.

We fished in St Nicholas Park where the river Avon goes through, the only run we had resulted in a fish and it was a 17lb common that I caught.

I caught it on a 18m cc Moore meteor boilie, on a blow back rig, with a fluorocarbon leader.
